Is this a stall and am I ready for Phase 2?
I am in week 4 of phase one, and I think I have found my protein threshold, but I'm not completely sure. The weight fell off pretty fast at first, then at the end of the second week it seemed to slow down and then got stuck at 194 for a few days. I also felt less energetic during that time. It seems like I was experiencing all the markers of hitting my protein threshold, but I read on some of the other posts that I should give it another week to be sure.
I gave it another week, and I lost a little more but the weight seems to be fluctuating up and down and generally slowing down. I also don't feel as good as I did during the first 2 weeks.
Based on what I am seeing, it looks like my threshold should be around 79% fat, and that I should move on to phase 2 next week, does that seem right?
|1/7/2019||209.0 80% fat|
|1/14/2019||200.6 79% fat|
|1/21/2019||195.4 78% fat|
|1/27/2019||193.4 77% fat|
Yes! You said it beautifully. I'm saying yes based off of how you felt not necessarily the weight. Also great catch for the reason of giving it another week. 🙂
When you start this program, some people will drop faster due to the macro percent changes. For me personally, I needed to up my electrolytes more because of the change. Your weight did look like it was staying stable in week 3, but then you had a drop this current week, which is a reason why we do another week.
Yet, with you feeling less than optimal in the last 2 weeks, I would say that you did hit your protein threshold. There are two things that you can do now with starting phase 2. You can continue the program being at 79% fat or you can start phase 2 at 79% and keep slowly increasing your fat percent over time. I did that last option, but do understand that you will get less protein as time goes on. For some, it may not matter and for others, it would matter. I personally crave more fat than protein I have learned through this. Yet, don't be worried about muscle mass, as ketones are muscle sparing. You may or may not have already known this.
